Chris Maki - Instructor, Facilities & equiptment coordinator
I am proud to serve as the lead instructor for Rocket Academy, bringing a non-traditional background that enriches the classroom experience. My journey began with 20 years as an industrial maintenance technician, including four transformative years in the U.S. Navy, before I transitioned to teaching in 2020. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a range of industries, from health care and chemical production to food manufacturing. I find great joy in sharing these real-world insights with students, helping them prepare not just for their first job, but for a fulfilling career and life.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management (2017) and a Master’s in Career and Technical Education (2023), both from UW-Stout. In 2023, I also completed the Professional Experience-Based teaching license requirements. Despite this extensive education, I emphasize to my students that success doesn’t always require a college degree—it’s about finding the right path and making the most of it.
A lifelong resident of Sheboygan County, I now live with my wife and five wonderful children on an old farm that keeps us busy with three dogs, two cats, and a lively flock of chickens. We’re happiest spending time at our cabin in the Northwoods and make family outings to church an important part of our week. Mission work holds a special place in my heart, and I’ve been fortunate to participate in several trips to Africa, a tradition I hope to continue over the summer months.
I'm excited to be part of the Rocket Academy community and look forward to connecting with students, families, and fellow educators.
